OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Help

To Define a Building and its Floors

The below steps illustrates a task of defining floors of desired elevations for a building in Structural discipline.

  1. From Floor Selector, select (Floor Manager).

The Floor Manager dialog appears. It is populated with a default building template. You can modify this building or create a new one.

  2. Rename the site from Site 1 to Structural and the default building name to Structural Building.
  3. The new building you are about to design is to have a single floor and two roof levels. So, rename the three default floors accordingly:
    1. Rename Floor 1 to Ground.
    2. Rename Floor 2 to Flat Roof.
    3. Rename Floor 3 to Sloped Roof.
  4. Alter the Floor-to-Floor values, by entering:
    1. 12:0 for Ground
    2. 4:0 for Flat Roof
This sets the following floor and roof elevations in the Relative Elevation column:
    • 0:0 for Ground,
    • 12:0 for Flat Roof, and
    • 16:0 for Sloped Roof.
  5. Select the Ground floor definition, and click in its Discipline property (right panel) field.

A drop-down appears listing the OpenBuildings Station Designer disciplines.

  6. Select the Structural discipline.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other two floors. When done, click Save.
